Join a park ranger for a short hike and discussion about the history of our state tree and the many ways it influenced the development of our state. Once covering millions of acres the longleaf pine forest has been reduced to a small fragment of its original size. Learn about all the ways longleaf pine is being managed to restore it to its original range. There will be a short slide show before the hike. Participants should meet at the Visitor Center at 2:00 pm. Call the Park office at 910-588-4550 for more information. This event is free of charge and open to the general public.
