Guiding Lights is a private nonprofit organization that is dedicated to serving family and professional caregivers. Our mission is to be the comprehensive support center for family and professional caregiving.

Awakening
A comprehensive life management program designed for individuals with dementia and their caregivers.
This program includes:
Memory Assistance Program with in-home program application
Cognitive Measurement Testing Tools

Certified Nurse Assistant Training Course
The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Training Course is a 75 hour North Carolina State approved and regulated program which will train individuals to become Level I CNAs.
Registrants may take either the full or abbreviated course that will include competency testing as needed and has the potential for becoming a training site for area Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facilities.
CNAs will go through an all encompassing clinical rotation in various skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, homecare agencies, and adult day programs to enlighten them in the aspects of long-term care as well as receive specialized dementia training.
Skills Lab for Family Caregivers
The onsite training and competency lab at Guiding Lights will have equipment and items that will teach the family caregiver how to better care for their loved one.
Resource Lending Library
The Resource Lending Library is located at Guiding Lights and will include multiple forms of media including books, video, and online access to a variety of caregiving tools and websites.
Family Match Program
The Family Match Program will enable new caregivers to be partnered with an existing caregiver to alleviate concerns, validate feelings/thoughts and assist with improved coping skills.
Care Coordination and Support
The care coordination will provided one-on-one assistance to family caregivers by supporting them in their caregiving role.
Support Groups
Family caregiver and professional support groups will be facilitated at the center and other communities in the area.
Referral Specialists
Referral specialists will be available at the center to discern the needs of the caregivers and connect them directly to the resources available in the tri-county area.
Sharing Suite
The “Sharing Suite” is a physical office at Guiding Lights designed to link the informal caregivers with professionals in the field. Free professional consults are available.
Professional and Caregiver Training
Guiding Lights will provide dementia training to professional and informal caregivers as well as other pertinent trainings as the need arises. CEUs will be awarded to participants seeking credits.
Eldercare Outsourcing for Corporations
Guiding Lights will serve corporations by selling blocks of time to be present at their corporate locations providing support, resources, and counseling as a benefit to their employees.
