I'm a member of a band that recently played at their "Battle of the Bands" event, which was poorly advertised and even more poorly run. They tell us "Bring all your fans!" Well, many of our fans are under 21, and the owner of this place decides it prudent to charge them a ridiculous $10 cover charge. Now, I understand the economics of bars; they're out to make money on drinks, but come on. Also, the owner himself gallavants around the place, bringing uncomfortable conversation to some, and downright rudeness to others (He wouldn't let a woman who couldn't drink nor have caffeine in with her Diet Sun Drop). The bouncers are no better; it seems they thrive on creating and talking about some sort of drama, and the whole crew seems like some wanna-be mini-mafia. If you love all the worst New York (and the Sopranos) has to offer, then I suppose you should patronize this bar. If not, I'd recommend going to Firebelly's or something. Check out the Soapbox, if you're looking for live music. (Which is also better because Soapbox actually has sound men and a decent PA.)
