We are a non-profit organization dedicated to education through the arts and community service by providing opportunities to emerging artists in the Southeastern North Carolina region. Founded in 2004, our organization has produced more than 40 stage productions including the amazing new works of John Gridzien, Marlowe
Moore, Lou Buttino and Justin Cioppa. These may not be household names now, but they soon could be. We've certainly done our part to help them along the way!
The Browncoat Pub & Theatre is considered "home" by many diverse artists in the Wilmington, NC area. Aside from our monthly play productions, we also host regular poetry nights, screen truly independent films and produce our own LIVE weekly sit-com written by Tony Moore and Chris Bowen. The Browncoat is a resource
for the arts community that is used for a variety of art-related purposes including classes, rehearsals, filming locations and independent productions. The space is made available for free or as close to free as possible.
There is always something fun and innovative going on at the Browncoat and artists understand that by supporting us, they are supporting themselves as every dollar spent goes directly into the local arts movement. We also regularly partner with local charitable organizations in their fundraising efforts. Over the years, we have worked with The American Red Cross, The United Way, The Pender County Human Society, The SafeHave Domestic Violence Shelter and The Ashley House for Veterans, among many others.
